The Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organization (GAFAMORG) and the National Conscience Party (NCP) have expressed deep concern over the revocation of the bail granted to activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, warning that any attempt to intimidate opposition voices could further shrink Nigeria’s democratic space. In a joint statement released in June 2026, the groups declared that “nothing must happen to Omoyele Sowore,” while calling on the judiciary, security agencies and other state institutions to uphold constitutional freedoms and ensure the activist’s safety.

The activist had requested an adjournment to June 16, but the court ruled that the request did not provide sufficient justification.
