Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has declared that his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja will not stop his political activism, insisting that imprisonment is part of the sacrifice required to liberate Nigeria.

Sowore made the remarks on Monday shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered that he be remanded in Kuje prison until Wednesday following the revocation of his bail last week.

Speaking to journalists outside the courtroom after the proceedings, Sowore said he had anticipated the outcome and had come fully prepared for imprisonment.

"The courts, as you all are aware of, made an order while I was absent last week that my bail is revoked and an arrest warrant issued," he said.
