Sowore was on Monday remanded in Kuje Prison after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his detention pending the hearing of an application challenging the revocation of his bail.
A non-governmental, the Centre for Change has called for the immediate and unconditional release of human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, from the Kuje Custodial Centre, describing his detention as an attack on free speech and democratic rights in Nigeria.
The organisation also condemned the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja to remand Sowore following the revocation of his bail, while questioning the impartiality of the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Umar, in the ongoing trial.
