A non-governmental, the Centre for Change has called for the immediate and unconditional release of human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, from the Kuje Custodial Centre, describing his detention as an attack on free speech and democratic rights in Nigeria. The organisation also condemned the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja to remand Sowore following the revocation of his bail, while questioning the impartiality of the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Umar, in the ongoing trial.

The activist had requested an adjournment to June 16, but the court ruled that the request did not provide sufficient justification.
