The Youth Rights Campaign (YRC) has strongly condemned the revocation of the bail granted to human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The group accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of deploying the judiciary and security agencies to suppress dissent and wage war against the democratic rights of Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Coordinator, Michael Adaramoye Lenin, and National Secretary, Francis Nwapa, YRC described the violent seizure of Sowore by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) within the court premises on Monday as a dangerous assault on the democratic rights of the citizens.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported how DSS operatives whisked Sowore away from the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday after Justice Mohammed Umar ordered that he be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre till June 24, 2026.
According to the YRC, the development exposes what it called the “anti-people and authoritarian character” of the Bola Tinubu-led government.
