The Workers and Youth Solidarity Network (WYSN) has strongly condemned the court revocation of the bail granted to human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore.
The group described the move as a dangerous escalation in the persecution of Sowore, who has been a prominent critic of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the group said it was alarmed by the decision of Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court to revoke Sowore's bail and ordered his arrest in the ongoing cybercrime and defamation case filed against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The court revoked Sowore's bail on Tuesday, June 16, over his alleged absence from a scheduled court hearing.
Meanwhile, Sowore has publicly maintained that he was present at the court premises and was informed that the matter had been rescheduled.
