Okonkwo and Christian warned that the development further shrink Nigeria’s civic space and undermine democratic freedoms.
Human rights advocate and publisher of Profiles International Human Rights Advocate, Daniel Nduka Okonkwo, alongside Tony Christian, Executive Director of the SubNews Empowerment Foundation (SEF), has condemned the revocation of bail granted to rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore by Justice M.G. Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Okonkwo and Christian warned that the development further shrink Nigeria’s civic space and undermine democratic freedoms.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the rights advocates described the court’s decision as troubling for constitutional rights, civic participation, and democratic accountability.
They stressed that every citizen is entitled to fair treatment under the law and must be afforded a meaningful opportunity to defend themselves.
