The party said Sowore remains in “high spirits” despite his detention, adding that he has continued political mobilisation from the correctional facility.
The African Action Congress (AAC) has condemned the remand of its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Kuje Correctional Centre, describing the development as a politically motivated attempt to silence the opposition figure.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu, the party alleged that the order by Justice M.G. Umar was part of a broader effort by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to suppress dissent and weaken democratic opposition.
The AAC claimed that the continued legal action against Sowore was driven by political considerations rather than the rule of law, alleging that the government was threatened by the growing support for Sowore’s political movement and the party’s agenda.
