In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the groups said they were following “with grave concern the recent revocation of Mr. Omoyele Sowore’s bail and the subsequent order for his remand.”

The Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organization (GAFAMORG) and the National Conscience Party (NCP) have expressed concern over the remand of activist, journalist, former presidential candidate, and opposition figure Omoyele Sowore, warning that nothing must happen to him and urging authorities to safeguard his constitutional rights.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the groups said they were following “with grave concern the recent revocation of Mr. Omoyele Sowore’s bail and the subsequent order for his remand.”

The statement was signed by Comrade Babatunde Agunbiade, Comrade Adeoye Ade-Adewunmi, and Dr. V.G. Odumenjemba on behalf of GAFAMORG and the NCP.

Providing what they described as context to the development, the organisations noted that publicly reported accounts indicated that the bail revocation was not based on Sowore’s political views, but on his failure to appear in court on a scheduled date.
