The Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organization (GAFAMORG) and the National Conscience Party (NCP) have expressed concern over the remand of activist, journalist, former presidential candidate, and opposition figure Omoyele Sowore, warning that nothing must happen to him and urging authorities to safeguard his constitutional rights. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the groups said they were following “with grave concern the recent revocation of Mr. Omoyele Sowore’s bail and the subsequent order for his remand.”

The organisation warned that the growing use of criminal prosecutions against critics poses a serious threat to democratic governance and civic space in Nigeria.
