The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has strongly condemned the revocation of the bail granted to human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, by the Federal High Court in Abuja. SERAP described the development as part of a broader pattern of harassment and reprisals against critics of President Bola Tinubu's administration. In a statement issued on Friday, SERAP expressed concern over the court decision and the issuance of a bench warrant for Sowore’s arrest.

The movement alleged that critics of government policies have increasingly come under pressure, insisting that Sowore’s situation reflects a disturbing national trend.

UAD further alleged that the development was not limited to Sowore’s case alone, but formed part of a broader strategy to silence activism linked to insecurity protests.

The activist expressed concerns over an attempt to forcefully assert control over the proceedings after he had filed an application seeking the judge's recusal from the case.
