Several Luzon areas remain under Signal No. 1 as Maymay weakens

MANILA, Philippines — Maymay, formerly a tropical storm, has weakened into a tropical depression (TD) on Thursday afternoon, the state weather bureau reported.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist John Manalo said in the 11 a.m weather advisory that only Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remained hoisted over the following areas in Luzon as Maymay weakens.

As of 11 a.m, TD Maymay was located within the vicinity of Tanudan, Kalinga, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers (km) per hour and gustiness of up to 90 km per hour, moving southeastward slowly, according to Pagasa.
