Tropical Depression Maymay is the Philippines' 13th tropical cyclone for 2026, and the second for August

MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area (LPA) off La Union developed into a tropical depression at 8 pm on Tuesday, August 4.

It was given the local name Maymay, as the Philippines’ 13th tropical cyclone for 2026. It is also the second tropical cyclone for August, coming shortly after Tropical Depression Luis.

As of 10 pm on Tuesday, Maymay was located 130 kilometers west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union, moving east northeast at only 10 kilometers per hour (km/h).
