The rightwing League party on Monday bemoaned Health Minister Orazio Schillaci's decision to annul the national consultative panel on vaccines, NITAG, due to a row about the presence of two anti-vaxxer doctors on the committee.

Alberto Bagnai, a member of the League and a member of the Covid commission like his party colleague Claudio Borghi, said "Schillaci gave into the diktats of the usual scientists" while Borghi said the minister had "folded under pressure from (the opposition centre-left Democratic Party) PD".

Italy's association of internal doctors said "the NITAG shouldn't be an expression of political stances".
