Mehdi Rostami, a 25-year-old resident of Ashkhaneh in North Khorasan Province who was previously arrested in connection with the January protests, has been sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 2 of the Bojnourd Revolutionary Court.

According to a report by Kurdpa, the sentence was issued in late July. The report states that Rostami faced charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the system,” resulting in the two-year prison sentence handed down by the court.

Rostami was arrested by security forces in late January 2026 without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location. After being detained for several days, he was temporarily released on bail.
