Mohammad Norouzi, an Afghan citizen residing in Iran who was arrested during the January protests, has been sentenced by a court to six years in prison.

The Follow-up Committee reported that security forces arrested Norouzi at his private residence on January 15. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the Malard Detective Police. According to informed sources, he was transferred to Qezel Hesar Prison after being held for four days and subjected to physical beatings.

According to the report, Norouzi repeatedly faced threats of deportation and expulsion from Iran during his detention. He was eventually released from prison temporarily after posting bail of one billion tomans.

The court subsequently sentenced the Afghan citizen to six years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion” and “propaganda against the regime.” The verdict is currently in the appeals stage.
