The Appeals Court of Isfahan Province has upheld a 21-year prison sentence for Mohammad Abedraftar, who was born in 1997 and is a resident of Shahin Shahr, Isfahan. HRANA reported that Abedraftar, who was arrested during the nationwide protests in January, was also sentenced to a two-year ban on residing in Isfahan Province.
Under the ruling issued by Branch 47 of the Appeals Court, Abedraftar was sentenced to a total of 21 years in prison on charges of “propaganda activity against the regime,” “inciting and enticing people to war and killing,” “assembly and collusion against national security,” and “attempting to manufacture Molotov cocktails with the intent to cooperate with hostile states.” His case has now been forwarded to the Enforcement of Judgments Unit for implementation of the sentence.
He had previously been sentenced to the same prison term, along with a permanent ban on residing in Isfahan Province, by the court of first instance. However, the Appeals Court reduced the supplementary punishment, limiting the residency ban to two years.
Mohammad Abedraftar was arrested by security forces on January 8 amid nationwide protests and was temporarily released on bail of five billion tomans in late March of the same year.
