President Cyril Ramaphosa seeks to interdict the committee from proceeding until after the review of the independent panel report on Phala Phala is heard. The review is expected to be heard in September. The interdict matter was heard before a full bench comprising Judges André le Grange, Matthew Francis and Diane Davis.
Chairperson of the Impeachment Committee, Makashule Gana, said that he has contacted Constitutional Legal Services with the names of potential evidence leaders that the committee members have given him to check the availability of senior counsel to do the task.
Gana was speaking outside of Courtroom 18 where the judgment was reserved in the Western Cape High Court in the matter of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s interdict against the impeachment committee.
