Impeachment Committee pushes forward in search for evidence leaders

Chairperson of the Impeachment Committee, Makashule Gana has contacted Constitutional Legal Services with the names of potential evidence leaders that committee members have nominated to check the availability of senior counsel to take on the task.

Gana was speaking outside of Courtroom 18, where judgment was reserved in the Western Cape High Court in the matter of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s interdict against the impeachment committee.

President Cyril Ramaphosa seeks to interdict the committee from proceeding until after the review of the independent panel report on Phala Phala is heard. The review is expected to be heard in September. The interdict matter was heard before a full bench comprising Judges André le Grange, Matthew Francis and Diane Davis.
