Impeachment Committee chair submits potential evidence leaders for review

Makashule Gana, Chairperson of the Impeachment Committee, has submitted the committee’s list of potential evidence leaders to Constitutional Legal Services to confirm the availability of senior counsel for the task.

Gana was speaking outside of Courtroom 18, where the judgment was reserved in the Western Cape High Court in the matter of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s interdict against the impeachment committee.

Ramaphosa seeks to interdict the committee from proceeding until after the review of the independent panel report on Phala Phala is heard. The review is expected to be heard in September.

The interdict matter was heard before a full bench comprising Judges André le Grange, Matthew Francis and Diane Davis.
