Rise Mzansi MP and Impeachment Committee Chairperson Makashule Gana.
The Impeachment Committee will push ahead with the preparations for the impeachment of President Cyril Ramaphosa after the Western Cape High Court granted an interim interdict to stay impeachment proceedings.
This was after the judgment, which was delivered on Friday, was received with disappointment by opposition parties, complaining about delays in holding Ramaphosa to account, and Build One South Africa even calling on Parliament to seek legal advice on whether to lodge an urgent appeal.
Impeachment Committee Chairperson Makashule Gana said on Friday the committee will continue its preparatory work.
Gana said the part of the committee’s work that has been interdicted is the public hearings and oral testimonies pending Ramaphosa’s review application.
