President Cyril Ramaphosa has filed papers seeking an interdict against the impeachment committee.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's urgent bid to stop the Impeachment Committee in its tracks comes before the Western Cape High Court today with committee chairperson Makashule Gana expected to attend proceedings.

Ramaphosa filed the application last month seeking an interdict against the committee.

In his court papers, Ramaphosa said he had launched an application to review and set aside the Independent Panel's report, which is expected to be heard from 2 to 4 September this year.

He said his interdict application "is far more modest", only seeking to pause the impeachment process until the court has ruled on the review application.
