The family of the taxi driver involved in Tuesday's fatal crash in Colorado Park, Mitchells Plain, has broken their silence, commiserating with the family of 39-year-old Emile Koopman, who died after his vehicle burst into flames following the collision.
In a statement provided to the Weekend Argus, the family of Arthur Williams offered their condolences to the Koopman family and sought to address public claims that the crash was caused by reckless driving.
"Our hearts are with the family of Mr Emile Koopman. We are devastated by this loss, and there are no words for the pain they must be carrying. They are in our thoughts and our prayers every single day.
"We have been advised to allow some time before reaching out to the family directly, and we are respecting that guidance. But we want them to know that we are grieving alongside them, and that they are not out of our minds for a moment."
