The scene in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.

The family of a 45-year-old man fatally stabbed at a Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain home in the early hours of Tuesday, 30 June, has appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified claims about his death on social media, as they try to prepare for his funeral.

Weekend Argus visited the family at their home on Wednesday morning but was asked to respect their privacy while they grieve and make burial arrangements. Their appeal comes as rumours about the circumstances of the killing continue to circulate in the community.

The victim, born Carl but known to neighbours as "Kyle," lived quietly with his child at the back of the property where he was killed. Community members who knew him say the speculation doing the rounds does not reflect what they understand happened.

"His name is Carl, but everyone here calls him Kyle. He is a loving man, he really cared for his child. They lived alone at the back of the house where he was murdered," one community member said.
