Phillip Bezuidenhout, with his mother Frieda.

THE family of a Gauteng man killed during a street race have raised serious allegations against the police regarding a cover-up and complicity in illegal racing activities.

Acting on behalf of the family, AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit has since written to the Office of the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner and Wonderboom Poort South African Police Service (SAPS).

This follows the death of Phillip Bezuidenhout, who was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a street race along Steve Biko Road in Gezina, Pretoria in May.

According to the non-profit civil rights organisation, Bezuidenhout was a passenger in a Honda Ballade involved in a street race.
