Aliqah Petersen, a beloved mother of three, tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident, leaving her family and community in mourning.
“Disgusted”. That’s how the family of Aliqah Petersen feel after the man suspected of killing her in an alleged hit-and-run allegedly drove off while she was lying helplessly on the side of the road.
And if that wasn’t traumatic enough, the family claim that the man, was, according to witnesses the alleged suspect was under the influence… and was released on a Saturday evening of all days, granted bail of R3 000.
Petersen, 44, a mother of three, was crossing the street on Bonteheuwel Avenue at approximately 10.40 pm Friday, 19 June, 2026.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the incident.
