CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The power situation in Oriental Mindoro improved on Saturday (May 30) after additional generation sources restored a positive reserve margin in the island’s power grid, according to the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco).
In its latest Demand and Supply Monitoring Report based on data from the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), Ormeco said the Oriental Mindoro grid recorded a power reserve of 5.5 megawatts (MW) as of 9 a.m.
The report showed a total demand of 61.5 MW against a dependable capacity of 67 MW, providing enough supply to meet current electricity requirements.
The island’s contracted capacity stands at 99.5 MW.
