CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Oriental Mindoro power grid maintained a 9.93-megawatt (MW) reserve as of 8 a.m. Sunday, May 31, according to the latest Dispatch Report from the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), released by the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco).

Data showed total power demand at 53.08 MW, while dependable capacity stood at 63.01 MW, leaving a positive reserve of 9.93 MW. The province’s contracted capacity remained at 99.50 MW.

Despite the available reserve, Ormeco noted that dependable capacity remains significantly below contracted capacity due to operational constraints affecting several power plants.

Among the factors cited were reduced water levels at the Linao-Cawayan Mini-Hydro Power Plant, Inabasan Mini-Hydro Power Plant, and Catuiran Hydro Power Plant, limiting their power generation capacity.
