CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The power supply deficit in the Oriental Mindoro grid widened to 15.41 megawatts (MW) as of 11 a.m. on Friday, prompting continued manual load dropping in several areas, according to the latest dispatch report of the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo).
Data from the grid operator showed that at least 17.600 MW worth of feeders remained unserved due to the shortage, resulting in rotational brownouts affecting multiple communities across the province.
Authorities attributed the inadequate power supply to a combination of low water levels, technical breakdowns, and fuel supply problems affecting several power plants.
