The first of eight new metro trains have officially entered service in the Sofia Metro, marking a new stage in the modernization of the capital’s public transport system.
The launch ceremony took place at the Obelya metro depot, where the new Škoda Transportation trains began operating on Line 1, heading toward Sofia Airport.
The event was attended by Vasil Terziev, Deputy Mayor for Transport Viktor Chaushev, Metropolitan Sofia Executive Director Nikolay Naydenov, Prof. Stoyan Bratoev, representatives of Škoda Bulgaria, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov, and Czech Ambassador Miroslav Toman.
