MANILA, Philippines – A congressional resolution seeking to investigate the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) was filed at the House of Representatives on Monday after repeated transmission line failures that caused power supply disruptions.

House Speaker Faustino Dy III and Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez filed House Resolution No. 1024 to probe into the tripping of two 500-kilovolt transmission lines that forced the Luzon grid to shed load, disrupting power supply for about 3.9 million customers.

“It is unacceptable that millions of Filipinos lost electricity due to the failure of our transmission system,” Dy said in a statement in Filipino.
