MANILA, Philippines – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon and Visayas grids extended red and yellow alerts on Friday amid thin power reserves.

As of 11:45 p.m., NGCP said the red alert for the Luzon grid is extended from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., while the yellow alert will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The grid operator revised the schedule due to the tripping of GNPD Unit 1, resulting in the loss of 668 MW, which aggravated the supply gap.
