MANILA, Philippines – Tight power reserves prompted the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to place the Visayas grid under a yellow alert again on Tuesday during the evening peak period.
The yellow alert will be in effect from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with available capacity projected at 2,590 megawatts (MW) against an expected peak demand of 2,394 MW.

NGCP attributed the yellow alert to the continued unavailability of the Visayas’ large coal-fired power plants—TVI Units 1 and 2 and PCPC—as well as the forecast of high electricity demand.
