MANILA, Philippines – Consumers in Luzon and the Visayas could experience power interruptions on Wednesday as the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) issued the country’s first red alert this 2026.
A surge in power demand due to hotter weather, while more power plants are on forced outage, has led to tight power supply across the two grids.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the Luzon grid would be under red alert status from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
