Rep. Jose Teves Jr. —TGP PARTY-LIST

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY, Philippines — The island province of Catanduanes continues to endure prolonged rotational brownouts, with residents now experiencing up to eight hours of daily power interruptions, prompting a lawmaker to seek congressional intervention.

TGP (Talino at Galing ng Pinoy) party-list Rep. Jose Teves Jr. urged the panel to address the worsening power situation and compel concerned agencies to present concrete solutions.

Teves said the province’s electricity situation worsened from January to April 2026, starting with three-hour daily brownouts that later increased to five-hour outages three times a day, “severely affecting” residents, particularly children and the elderly.
