LUCENA CITY — Dangerous heat indices are forecast in seven areas in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Lagina, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region on Sunday, with residents advised to take precautionary measures.

In its 5 p.m. forecast issued on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sangley Point and Bacoor City in Cavite are expected to experience a heat index of 45°C on Sunday.

“The heat index for Bacoor, Cavite is forecast to reach a danger level, according to Pagasa monitoring at Sangley Point. This means the weather will feel extremely hot and may lead to heat-related illnesses if we are exposed for long periods,” the local government said in its advisory.

Pagasa also forecast a 43°C heat index in Tanauan City, Batangas; Alabat, Quezon; and Los Baños, Laguna.
