Himalayan glaciers are melting at an accelerating pace, doubling ice loss rates since 2000. These glaciers provide water for nearly two billion people downstream. Small glaciers are shrinking faster, posing immediate water shortage risks. Glacier area loss is highest in eastern Hengduan Shan mountains.
