Annual inflation in Greece accelerated to 3.8% in August 2026, up from 3.4% in July, according to official Greek statistics.
The increase was driven mainly by faster price growth in housing and utilities, where inflation reached 9.7%, compared with 8.8% a month earlier. Transport prices also increased at a faster pace, rising 7.7% year over year after a 7.4% increase in July.
Food prices recorded annual growth of 0.9% in August, more than double the 0.4% increase registered in July. Price growth also accelerated in restaurants and hotels, reaching 6% compared with 5.8% a month earlier.
Healthcare prices rose 1.3% year over year, compared with 1.1% in July, while inflation in clothing and footwear accelerated significantly to 5.3% from 3.3%.
Inflation in educational services stood at 2.8% in August, while prices for insurance and financial services increased 3.4% annually.
