A hot weekend is in store for Bulgaria, with temperatures reaching 37-38 degrees in some areas and unusually warm nights for September. The weather will remain mostly sunny, although a northwesterly wind and an atmospheric front will move across the country on Sunday, bringing a limited chance of showers.
Temperatures on Saturday morning will range from about 14 to 20 degrees at sunrise. During the day, the weather will be sunny and hot, with highs between 32 and 37 degrees. These temperatures are well above what would normally be expected for September and are even higher than typical July values.
A change will begin overnight into Sunday, when a northwesterly wind will develop and strengthen as an atmospheric front crosses the country. The front is expected to pass mostly without precipitation, although isolated showers remain possible in parts of northeastern Bulgaria and the Fore-Balkans.
Sunday morning will remain exceptionally warm for the time of year, with minimum temperatures ranging from 15-17 degrees to around 22-23 degrees in some areas. The conditions will result in what can be described as September tropical nights not only along the Black Sea coast but also inland.
During Sunday, the country will be mostly sunny but windy. More clouds will develop over northeastern Bulgaria and the Rila-Rhodope region, although the chance of significant rainfall will remain low.
