Bulgaria is set for another stretch of hot summer weather, with sunshine dominating much of the country over the weekend before afternoon thunderstorms develop in western and mountainous areas.
On Saturday morning, temperatures will range between 17C and 22C. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the first half of the day, but cloud cover will increase later in the afternoon. Rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected to develop over the mountains of western Bulgaria.
Daytime highs across the country will reach between 32C and 37C. In Sofia, temperatures are forecast to range from a morning low of 17C to a high of around 33C.
The Black Sea coast will enjoy clear and sunny conditions throughout Saturday. Air temperatures will peak at 28C to 29C, while sea water temperatures will range from 24C to 25C along the northern coastline and from 25C to 26C in the south. Sea conditions are expected to remain calm with only slight waves.
Mountain areas will also begin the day under sunny skies before afternoon cumulus clouds build. Thunderstorms are forecast mainly over Vitosha, Rila and Pirin. Temperatures will reach between 23C and 26C at elevations around 1,500 meters, while peaks above 2,500 meters will remain much cooler at 13C to 15C.
