Bulgaria will enjoy mostly sunny weather over the weekend, with temperatures rising to summer levels, although short-lived thunderstorms are expected in parts of the country, especially on Sunday.
Saturday will bring plenty of sunshine and mostly calm conditions. Afternoon temperatures will be high, reaching between 30°C and 35°C in many areas, with Sofia expected to see around 30°C. Atmospheric pressure will remain slightly above the monthly average.
The mountains will also experience sunny weather, but winds from the west-northwest will become moderate to strong. Temperatures will reach about 22°C at an altitude of 1,200 meters and around 16°C at 2,000 meters.
Along the Black Sea coast, sunny skies and light winds are expected. A typical sea breeze will develop after midday, keeping temperatures between 29°C and 31°C. Sea water temperatures will remain pleasant at 24°C to 26°C, with waves reaching 1 to 2 points.
On Sunday, cloud development will begin in northwestern Bulgaria during the morning and spread across much of the country later in the day. Short-term rain showers and thunderstorms are expected, with stronger activity possible in mountainous and hilly areas. Winds will shift to the west-northwest and strengthen, bringing slightly cooler air.
