Bulgaria is set for another spell of hot summer weather, with temperatures continuing to rise through the week and expected to exceed 40°C in some parts of the country by the end of the period.
Monday will be predominantly sunny, bringing even higher temperatures than over the weekend. Daytime highs are forecast to range between 31°C and 36°C, including 31–32°C in Sofia. However, increasing cloud cover is expected to develop from northwest to southeast during the afternoon, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible in some areas. Winds will be light to moderate, blowing mainly from the west, while eastern Bulgaria will see a south-southwesterly wind.
Along the Black Sea coast, conditions will remain mostly sunny throughout the day. Temporary cloud development is expected over the northern coastline during the afternoon and later over the southern coast, where isolated brief showers may occur. Light to moderate south-southwesterly winds will continue, while maximum temperatures will range between 26°C and 30°C. Sea water temperatures are expected to stay between 22°C and 25°C, with wave conditions remaining moderate at 2 to 3 on the Beaufort scale.
In the mountain regions, sunny skies will dominate during the morning before cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds develop around midday and into the afternoon. These could trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms in isolated locations. Moderate to strong west-northwesterly winds are forecast, with temperatures reaching around 26°C at 1,200 metres and approximately 18°C at 2,000 metres.
