The Criminal Court of Qorveh has sentenced at least 13 Kurdish citizens, arrested during the January protests, to a combined total of 26 years, three months, and one day in prison, along with 196 lashes.
According to a report published by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the sentences were issued by Branch 102 of the Qorveh Criminal Court on charges including “disturbing public order” and “assembly and collusion.”
Among those convicted, Mohammad Mohammadi received the heaviest sentence: four years, nine months, and one day of discretionary imprisonment. Mostafa Gholami, Zahed Khaledian, and Vahed Khaledian were each sentenced to three years of discretionary imprisonment, while Shahrokh Mostafaei and Fereydoun Almasi were each handed one year and nine months. Rasoul Ghorbanpour, Saman Ganji, and Davoud Rezaei were each sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment.
Four of the defendants were sentenced to flogging in addition to prison terms: Reza Dehghani received one year of imprisonment and 41 lashes; Abouzar Moradhaseli was sentenced to one year of imprisonment and 31 lashes; Anwar Alipanah received one year of imprisonment and 50 lashes; and Amir Khaledian was sentenced to one year of imprisonment and 74 lashes. Amir Khaledian was additionally sentenced to two years of internal exile in Minab, Hormozgan Province.
