The sentences of 31 lashes for Neda Dadehjani and Setayesh (Behnoush) Sarabi, two residents of Qorveh who were arrested during the January protests, were carried out on Saturday, August 22, after they were summoned to and appeared at the Qorveh Criminal Court. Following the execution of their corporal punishment, both women were taken into custody and transferred to Sanandaj Prison to serve their prison terms.
According to a report by Kolbarnews, Dadehjani and Sarabi were previously sentenced to imprisonment, flogging, and internal exile in a two-part judicial case.
In the first part of the case, Branch 102 of the Qorveh Criminal Court sentenced each of the two citizens to one year in prison, 31 lashes, and two years of internal exile to Nik Shahr County on the charge of “disrupting public peace and order.”
In the second part of the case, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Qorveh sentenced each of them to two years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against internal security.” Under these rulings, a two-year prison sentence is enforceable for each individual under multiple-offense sentencing regulations.
Neda Dadehjani and Setayesh (Behnoush) Sarabi were originally arrested by security forces during the nationwide protests in January.
