September is expected to bring above-average temperatures across Bulgaria, with rainfall forecast to be around or below normal levels, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Average monthly temperatures for most of the country are normally between 17°C and 20°C, while the usual range in mountainous areas is between 3°C and 10°C. This September, temperatures are expected to remain above those levels for much of the month.
The highest temperatures are forecast to reach between 31°C and 36°C, while the lowest are expected to fall to between 5°C and 10°C. Minimum temperatures will generally be higher along the Black Sea coast and lower in the high fields of western Bulgaria, particularly on some days during the second half of the month.
Monthly rainfall is expected to be around or below the seasonal norm. In the plains, the usual September precipitation is between 40 and 60 liters per square meter, while mountainous and foothill areas typically receive between 60 and 80 liters per square meter.
The first 10 days of the month and the beginning of the second period are expected to be predominantly sunny across most of the country. Cumulus clouds may develop during the afternoon, but significant rainfall is not expected. Isolated brief showers, however, cannot be ruled out.
