Bulgaria is set for another day of summer heat on Wednesday, June 10, before a significant shift in weather conditions arrives later in the week. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), most of the country will enjoy sunny skies, with afternoon temperatures climbing to between 30°C and 35°C.
Forecasters expect mainly clear conditions throughout the morning. During the afternoon, however, cumulus clouds will develop over mountainous areas and parts of northeastern Bulgaria, creating conditions for brief showers and isolated thunderstorms. Winds will remain light to moderate from the east. In Sofia, temperatures are expected to reach around 30°C.
The Black Sea coast will also experience predominantly sunny weather. Highs there will range between 23°C and 26°C, while sea water temperatures will remain pleasant at 22°C to 23°C. Wave conditions are forecast to stay relatively calm, at around two points on the Beaufort scale.
Mountain regions will begin the day under mostly sunny skies, but weather conditions are expected to become more unstable later in the afternoon. Short-lived rain showers and thunderstorms are likely, particularly across the Rila-Rhodope area and parts of the Balkan Mountains.
