Police have arrested three persons, two of them Greek nationals, for circulating counterfeit money.

The three, including one minor, were arrested in the northeastern port city of Alexandroupoli this week, police said.

The foreign national had paid with five counterfeit 50-euro notes in three different kiosks around the city when he was arrested. On him, police found nine more counterfeit 50-euro notes.

Interrogated, he told police he had procured the banknotes from a Greek resident of the city.

Police raided a house, where they found 168 more counterfeit 50-euro notes, making the total haul 182. They arrested two Greek nationals during the day and impounded their cellphones.
