Cooler air will move into Bulgaria from the northeast on Friday, August 28, bringing increased cloudiness, rain in parts of central and southeastern Bulgaria and stronger winds, while southwestern areas will remain mostly sunny and warmer.

The Danube Plain and central parts of the country will see more substantial cloud cover. Rain is expected in places across central and southeastern Bulgaria, with thunderstorms possible in the central southern areas.

Clouds over northeastern Bulgaria will break up from the morning, giving way to sunny conditions. The southeastern regions will also become mostly sunny after midday.

Winds will be moderate from the north-northeast, becoming temporarily strong in eastern parts of the country. Daytime highs will range from 23C to 28C in northern and eastern Bulgaria, while southwestern areas could reach 34C. Sofia is expected to see a high of around 29C.

In the mountains, cloud cover will be more pronounced over the Balkan Mountains and Strandzha, where rain is possible in some areas. Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop over the Rhodope Mountains, bringing brief rain and thunderstorms. The mountain ranges of southwestern Bulgaria will remain mostly sunny.
