Weather conditions across Bulgaria will remain unsettled on Friday, July 3, with another day of widespread showers and thunderstorms expected. As the day progresses, cumulus and rain-bearing clouds will build over much of the country, bringing periods of short-lived but locally heavy rainfall. The highest precipitation totals are forecast for parts of Western Bulgaria and the central areas of Northern Bulgaria, where storms could become particularly intense. Meteorologists also warn that some of the stronger storm cells may produce hail.
A light west-northwesterly wind will prevail across most areas, becoming moderate in the northwestern parts of the country. The airflow will bring in relatively cooler air, keeping daytime temperatures lower than in recent days. Afternoon highs are expected to range between 27C and 32C, while Sofia is forecast to reach around 26C.
Mountain regions will also experience unstable weather. Cloud development during the day will trigger frequent showers and thunderstorms, with isolated locations likely to receive heavy downpours over a short period. A light to moderate wind from the west-northwest will accompany the unsettled conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach about 21C at 1,200 meters and around 14C at 2,000 meters.
