After a day marked by heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail across parts of the country, Friday is expected to bring a temporary break in the weather pattern, with more frequent sunny intervals in the morning. However, meteorologists warn that atmospheric instability will quickly return in the afternoon, bringing conditions for localized showers, thunderstorms, and possible short bursts of intense precipitation.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), rainfall activity that persisted overnight in Western Bulgaria will gradually weaken and stop by midnight. In other regions, especially mountainous areas and parts of Central and Eastern Bulgaria, short-lived showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into the night, easing toward morning and largely clearing by the start of the day.
The morning hours on Friday are forecast to be mostly sunny, but cloud development will intensify after midday. Meteorologists expect cumulus clouds to form again, leading to scattered rain and thunder in certain areas. The pattern reflects continued unstable air mass conditions over the country.
Temperatures will remain relatively warm for the season. Maximum values will range between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius, with Sofia expected to reach around 26 degrees. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the east, maintaining a generally calm but changeable atmosphere.
